New in 2018, the Urban Roots Community Market is where our community can buy healthy, fresh, local (where possible), and whole foods at affordable prices.

We are excited to open our doors in Madison Square as a place where healthy foods can be a staple kitchen item in the homes of our neighbors.

The Community Market is located inside our education center: 1316 Madison SE, Grand Rapids MI 49507.

Summer hours (April-October): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 12pm-7pm

Winter hours (November-March): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10am-5pm

AT THE URBAN ROOTS COMMUNITY MARKET, WE HAVE A TWO TIERED PRICING STRUCTURE.

Here, lower prices are offered to Madison neighbors in an effort to reinvest into a disinvested community where there is little access to fresh, affordable food.

If you consider yourself a Madison neighbor, lower prices on us!

For everyone else: please join us in the effort of reinvestment.

We accept: Bridge Cards (SNAP), Double Up Food Bucks, WIC, Senior Market Fresh, Cash, and Credit/Debit.

If you are interested in providing financial support to the Community Market, check out our Kombit Membership to learn more about how you can be a part of this work!

Find a variety of local options at the Community Market
