Urban Roots Community Market kickstarter!
THANK YOU to our community for making our Kickstarter happen! We are so excited to continue building a fair food ecosystem in SE GR. Check out our Kickstarter Page to learn more about the project that we will be bringing to life in the next few months.
New in 2018, the Urban Roots Community Market is where our community can buy healthy, fresh, local (where possible), and whole foods at affordable prices.
We are excited to open our doors in Madison Square as a place where healthy foods can be a staple kitchen item in the homes of our neighbors. The Community Market is located inside our education center: 1316 Madison SE, Grand Rapids MI 49507.
We accept: Bridge Cards (SNAP), Double Up Food Bucks, WIC, Senior Market Fresh, Cash, and Credit/Debit.
Summer hours (April-October): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 12pm-7pm
Winter hours (November-March): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10am-5pm
Find a variety of local options at the Community Market
In an effort to also invest in local food distribution companies, farmers, and producers, the Community Market is filled will items from small businesses and organizations in West Michigan.
FRESH PRODUCE IS AVAILABLE SEASONALLY! COME IN DURING HOURS OF OPERATION TO SEE WHAT’S AVAILABLE.
Some items we either grow or procure from local growers (even in Winter!) include: Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Collard Greens, Beets, Turnips, Radishes, Sweet Potatoes, Potatoes, Onions, Garlic, and more!
Dry and Bulk Goods:
Now offering dried beans, grains, nuts, seeds, canned goods, nut butters, oils, and more!
As a new Urban Roots enterprise, the Community Market is constantly changing and improving to reflect the needs of our neighborhood and community (that includes you!). We are always working hard to create a thriving food source in Madison Square, and we can use your input! Have a suggestion? Email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know!
