THE PLACE TO SHOP FOR REAL. FAIR. FOOD.

The Urban Roots Community Market is a Co-Operative Style food store located inside of our Education Center at 1316 Madison Avenue, SE. Now in its third iteration (thanks to the success of our Kickstarter Campaign!), the market continues to add products that we all love to eat. But what makes our market so special? Our market is small, but full of options that encourage all of us to move towards happier food choices. You will find real, and realistic for your lifestyle foods here - but without the pressures of candy, cookie, and convenience aisles.

Now live, is a membership model for you to invest in the place that you shop! At the URCM, we offer a two-tiered pricing structure where membership allows for you to access the lower, near at-cost prices. As a market that is trying to increase food access in a food insecure neighborhood, membership is free for those who struggle with food security. However, this is a place where everyone is encouraged to shop! For only $50 a year, you too can become a Community Market Member! Not feeling it? No sweat, but do consider these benefits that you receive as a member:

  • Discounted Community Classes

  • Weekly newsletters updates with local produce available in the market

  • Receive a reusable Urban Roots Community Market shopping bag *while supplies last

  • Input on our products and bulk goods

  • Access to membership gatherings and parties

  • Special members-only promotions

  • Invest your money into the community and support a nonprofit that is dedicated to bringing food education and security to Grand Rapids
