Growing for Beginners (and beyond!)
Proper plant spacing, fertilizers, Michigan’s growing timeline, harvesting… it can be overwhelming! Our skilled team is here to make growing more manageable, and this workshop gives you all the information you need to have a thriving garden. Growers of all levels are encouraged to attend!

Make and take cooking classes!
Our cooking classes focus on what’s in season and how to make the most of your garden! We aim to teach skills to make food that is both delicious and nourishing for your body. Each class provides samples and recipes to take home!
Thursday, May 2 5:30-7:00 - Almond and Cashew Milk: dairy alternatives come with many health benefits, however store-bought nut milks are often packed with sugar and other additives. This workshop will teach you how to make your own nut milk at home - where you can control the taste and ingredients to your preference!
Tuesday, June 11 6:30-8:00 - Fermenting Foods: in this class, we use ancient techniques to preserve foods that can spice up any dish. Kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented pineapple are just the beginning!
Thursday, July 18 5:30-7:00 - Garden Smoothies: we’ll show you the best smoothie combinations for flavor and nutrients! Perfect for breakfast, a quick snack, or a meal on the go.
Tuesday, August 6th, 5:30-7:00 - Hot Sauce and Salsa: learn the basics to making your own salsa and fermented hot sauce. Make enough in this class to take home and enjoy!
Thursday, September 26th, 5:30-7:00 - Flavor-Packed Salads: side dish no more! Learn in this class how to make a salad that is filling and delicious to take over the main course. We’ll be making a few different dressings that you can take home and try yourself!
Tuesday, October 8th, 5:30-7:00 - Quick-pickling: quick-pickled cabbage, cucumbers, onions, boiled eggs and more! Pickles bring any dish from ordinary to gourmet. Learn to make pickles in a pinch that can spice up your plate.
Monday, November 4th, 5:30-7:00 - Winter Food: get your holiday inspiration here! With the changing seasons, we’ll show you how to marry comfort food with nutritional and seasonal eating.
